I only found, through a chance discovery of Humanists UK website, that there is a name for the way I see the world and that numerous other people share my views and beliefs.
I was looking for a change of direction so became a member of Humanists UK, left my job in education and, in the spring of 2007, began my training. Having successfully completed the probation period, I was delighted to be accepted as an accredited celebrant and have since been privileged to conduct many ceremonies for people of all ages, from all walks of life.
Whilst anyone can call themselves a humanist celebrant, only those trained, accredited and monitored by Humanists UK can call themselves a Humanist Ceremonies™ Celebrant. By being part of the UK’s longest standing network of non-religious ceremony providers, I am covered by its Professional Indemnity Insurance, I adhere to its Code of Conduct and my work is regularly reviewed to ensure its high standards are maintained
