I only found, through a chance discovery of the Humanists UK website, that there is a name for the way I see the world and that numerous other people share my views and beliefs.
I was looking for a change of direction so I became a member of Humanists UK, left my job in education and in the spring of 2007 began my training – first for weddings and then for funerals and then finally for namings.
Having successfully completed the probation period, I was delighted to be accepted as an accredited celebrant and have since conducted around 100 ceremonies a year– each one individually tailored to the needs of the family/couple/individual.
Whilst anyone can call themselves a humanist celebrant, only those trained, accredited and monitored by Humanists UK can call themselves a Humanist Ceremonies™ Celebrant. By being part of the UK’s longest standing network of non-religious ceremony providers, I am covered by its Professional Indemnity Insurance,I adhere to its Code of Conduct and my work is reviewed annually to ensure its high standards are maintained.
